Shake up the winter lull with a play jar

When it is cold outside, your home can become your playground. So if you are looking for something to do to get your family’s energy out while staying inside, create a play jar. On small slips of paper write down as many indoor activities you can think of that involve moving or cooking together (check out our recipe collection here for ideas of what to make). Mix them up and toss them in a big jar. Just shake up the jar to shake up your routine. Family members can take turns pulling out an indoor inspiration and get down to playtime. We’ve got some ideas to get you started with filling your jar today:

  • Have a long jump contest
  • Cook breakfast for dinner as a family
  • Grab some jump ropes and double dutch
  • Play hide and seek at home
  • Plan a scavenger hunt in your house
  • Play Simon Says in your living room
  • Turn on the radio and dance
  • Play a game of Twister™ in your living room
  • Get a few people together to play charades
  • See who can hula hoop the longest
  • Build a fort from boxes or couch cushions

Have fun!
