
Bostonians are lucky enough to live near a magical string of 34 islands where you can hike, camp, explore the wildlife, and relax by the water. This national park also offers a variety of youth programs that encourage kids to learn about the environment and learn new skills. Check out the junior ranger program, or visit the islands to try out some of these activities and events!
- Take a scenic walk around historic Fort Warren, and then drop by the Build a Fort event on July 28th 11:00-1:00 to construct your own!
- Go camping on Bumpkin Island! Watch the sunset over the harbor after a full day of exploring beautiful trails lined with wildflowers
- Relax at the beach on Spectacle Island, only 20 minutes from downtown Boston!
- Enjoy live music with Jazz on the Porch every Saturday afternoon
- Take advantage of instructional classes like sea kayaking or youth fishing
What to bring:
- Sun block
- Light jacket in case of cooler temps
- Water bottle
- Swimsuit and towel if you plan to swim
- Camera to document the fun!
- Healthy picnic lunch like peanut butter and pear sandwiches or broccoli and feta pasta salad (you can also buy snacks on Spectacle Island)
Directions:
The ferry departs from Long Wharf North in Boston, take the Blue line to the Aquarium stop, or the Orange line to State Street.
